Thrift Store Shopping

So I scored some great steals at our local thrift shop this weekend. Why spend $19.99 at the maternity store, or even one of the big box stores, when I can get a pair of pants for less than $5. Woot! Today they are going in the laundry so I have more clothes to wear. I have a few pair of pants that I can wear with the bella band, but some are just too tight to even try. I am very grateful for more options!
My next appointment is on Wednesday. I am very excited to hear the heartbeat again. I will also have to do my one-hour glucose test. They didn't tell me to fast or anything...do they make pregnant women fast? Dr. Google says no. What has been your experience?

I didn't do the 1 hour test until 28 weeks. I didn't fast but I tried to lay off sugary stuff.

I can't remember if they told me to fast (I don't think so), but were super careful about what time I drank the orange drink. They gave it to me to take home and drink at home 60 minutes before my appointment so I wouldn't have to wait. I loved that. Good luck!

We just had an appointment today. They said for the one hour glucose test you don't have to fast, but for the two hour one (if you're at high risk or have abnormal results on the one hour) you do.

Hope that helps.

You don't have to fast, but don't eat any sugary foods and avoid carbs before the test (as both can raise blood sugar). Good luck!

I think I had to eat a plain breakfast - eggs and toast.

I had to fast for the 3 hour test....luckily I had snacks with me so as soon as I could eat I did!
I think with the one hour you don't have to fast.

Yeah, no fasting for the one hour glucose. Our midwife did recommend avoiding carbs the mornings of and eating a high protein breakfast.

I did my glucose test at 25 weeks, and was told to fast after midnight (for a 7:30 a.m. test). Good find on the clothes! At 33 weeks, I am still stretching out Helen's biggest pants and using the bella band where that fails in an ongoing effort to avoid the dreaded panel pants. Then again, I don't mind only having three pairs of pants to choose from: makes getting dressed that much faster ;-)

Good luck on the glucose test! Definitely avoid carbs beforehand so you won't have to go back and do the three-hour repeat!
