First post of 2009!

Happy New Year Y'all!

B and I started our new year with a very cathartic ritual at our church. This was our first time attending a Burning Bowl ceremony and it was pretty amazing.
After singing, reflection, and meditation, attendees write down everything they want to leave in 2008 on a little piece of flash paper. As the music plays, the congregation makes their way to the front of the church with their flash papers in hand. (This moves much like communion in Catholic or Lutheran churches that I have been to). In the front of the church are two giant urns filled with sand and candles. Each person releases their flash paper into the flames and whoosh. It is gone. No ashes or anything, just gone. You can imagine how empowering it is to see all of your worries and transgressions flash away in a ball of fire in front of you.
Once everyone has released their flash paper into the fire, they return back to their seats and meditate on what they want in 2009. Then they write a list of affirmations. The church has offered to take our affirmations and mail them back to us in 9 months to see where we are on our lists. B and I looked at each other and giggled at the 9 months part.
Later, I will make a page of my (and B's if she wants) affirmations on this blog so I can be reminded of them during my computer time.
Once we returned home from church, our friend (and former KD) and his girlfriend came over to ring in the new year, a tradition we have had for the past 4-5 years. It's very low key with good food and fun games, just the way I like it.

On the TTC front: CD40, still no detected ovulation. (Of course, I just stopped bleeding on CD22, so this cycle is whack.)

That sounds completely amazing...I can only imagine the feeling to see 2008 vanish.
