TYG

THANK YOU GOD.

Everything is fine.
We waited for about 10 minutes in the lobby before being called back. 5 minutes after we were settled in our room, the nurse came in with what looked like the little electronic thermometer you use at the doc's office. To our surprise she asked if it would be okay if we tried to hear the heartbeat with the doppler. We both excitedly said "YES PLEASE!", and she cautioned that it might still be too early to hear it. We told her we knew, but we still wanted to try.

She found it immediately, and it was so loud and fast and the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. I started crying immediately. J just sat there and sighed in relief.

We were left in the room alone afterward to wait for our OB, which took forEVER but we didn't mind because we were just so relieved to have heard our little Sprout's strong, healthy heartbeat. We laughed and joked, hugged and kissed and had a great time being silly. We both remembered reading on some website that someone said hearing the heartbeat reminded them of "galloping horses". As we were sitting there J says, "by the way that sounded nothing like galloping heartbeats." We both started CRACKING UP and pictured a heart running on it's veins for legs. We are so special.

Finally the doc came in and took some cultures. She said that she wanted to squeeze us in for an u/s to see if maybe the placenta is low (which could be one of the reasons for the spotting). We were surprised at having another one so soon but we weren't about to say no. A few minutes later we were quickly ushered into the dark room and saw our 10w5d Sprout doing the twist-n-shout. It has little arms and legs and nearly doubled in size! We did find out that the placenta does sit a little lower but that it wasn't anything to be too concerned about just yet. We will most likely get instructions at our next appointment (next Thursday, which will be 12w1d) to take it easy.

After we left we decided to go shopping and get some lunch. We called our respective places of employment to tell them everything was okay, then we hit the shops. We found some books at Garden.Ridge, then stopped at a few stores to look for maternity clothes for J. We got some great deals at JC.Pen.ney and Se.ars, stopped for lunch at Lo.gan's Road.house and called it a day.

We started the day so nervous, unsure and scared. But it is ending so beautifully and we are so blessed. TYG!!

Wow, what a roller coaster of emotions! I'm estatic that everything is just fine and sprout is going as he/she should. =)

The visual of the galloping heart is something that Laurie and I would do, I guess we're just as special. lol.

I'm so, so glad to hear that everything is fine. I had some spotting early on (6-7) weeks, and it was terrifying. It's always such a relief to know everything is okay. It sounds like your little one is doing beautifully!

Thank goodness everything is okay! I had bleeding at 10 weeks too. It turned out to be a UTI but they had also said that sometimes when the little one switches to getting nutrients from the placenta there can be bleeding. Keep taking care of yourselves!
Hearing the heartbeat is AMAZING!!!

So glad to hear everything is ok!

Kim had low-lying placenta at the beginning of both pregnancies at the level II ultrasound. They sent her back a couple of weeks later for another ultrasound and it had moved up. I think it's fairly common.

I cracked up at the galloping heartbeats.
