Gestational diabetes.
Really?
Ugh.
I feel like such a failure.
Fasting 89 (They like it less than 95, so I was fine)
1 hour 192 (They like it less than 180..big fat FAIL)
2 hour 178 (They like it less than 155...even bigger fat FAIL)
3 hour 131 (They like it less than 140, so I was fine again)
2/4 = FAIL
I have to attend a "Diabetes in Pregnancy" class, test/log my blood sugars several times a day, see a nutritionist, and then have WEEKLY appointments at my doctor's office.
And just today I thought, wow..."I'm a pretty normal pregnant person."

What a bummer! The good news is that with all that extra watching and counselling you will probably be even healthier in your pregnancy than most without GD! It seems like a borderline case given the numbers, anyway. I hope this just means you get more monitoring & reassurances along the way that everything is fine!
It stinks, but this is not a big deal. It's more "normal" than you think, actually. I've seen numbers MUCH higher than yours, and healthy babies born from those pregnancies! :) End result: Totally worth every tough "pass on the pixie stix" decision.
So sucks :( Sorry.
It is a total bummer BUT I had it too and made it through just fine. I think that I never ate healthier in my life! It's a lot of work and worry, but if you watch what you eat, exercise and take care of yourself it will be a breeze! If you need any advice let me know!
I hardly call 2/4 a big fat fail. Sure it might be a fail, but I've seen MUCH worse. So hopefully your GD is mild and can just be controlled by diet and no insulin or such. *hugs*
You're still normal!! You just got some extra baggage to go along with it!!
(sorry, trying to find the silver lining for you)
You're so NOT a failure. But it does suck :(
You're so not a Failure!!! Hopefully it's mild... But I read several articles about woman that had GD and with changing their food and some chinese medicine before they delivered it was gone!!! So there's hope....
I'm sorry! I failed my one hour screen and then failed 1/3 on the 2 hour tolerance test just the other week (Canada). The midwife said I don't have GD, but do have Impaired Glucose Tolerance of Pregnancy. In short I am not following a super strict diet, but am cutting out all obvious sugars and eating protein with my fruits etc. I'm just dreading Christmas... I thought we were supposed to be able to eat ice cream all day?! Good luck with the dietician etc, hopefully once you get some information on what and how to eat to control it, it won't seem as difficult :)
aww you are not a failure! Dont worry, its pretty common and look on the bight side. Going to the doctors once a week isnt such a bad thing. You will be able to see every week how nugget is doing :-) Love you guys!!
