7 Weeks

The last few days have been a little crazy in the morning sickness department. I was sick with a cold/allergies and the draining in my throat was not helping. However, I have found that if I eat crackers or pretzels throughout the day, it helps immensely.
We also picked up sour candies and mints. The sour candies make it worse. Ew. The mints do help though.

I'm a little bummed today because as I was doing my daily G0.0gle Reader reading, Joey (our cat) decided to step on the keyboard, making all the unread blogs suddenly read. So I am sorry if I missed any big news from yesterday.

Today is supposed to be an absolutely gorgeous day, followed by an equally gorgeous weekend. I cannot wait.

I do have to mention here how cute my dad is. He keeps to himself most of the time and many people feel he is cranky 96% of the time. However, I have always been his "favorite" and its a big joke between my sister and I. Last year, when my mom told him that we were TTC, his reaction was; "Well, I hope that doesn't happen." EEK. Luckily, we didn't know about this reaction until the week before we told them. Anyway, he was in shock the day we told him and then had some very valid questions a few days later (daycare, finances, dogs, etc) that he asked in his former drill sergeant voice. Fast forward a few days. He is so concerned about me and my health during this pregnancy. It's endearing. A few times he has said to me, "Make sure you are eating right and taking care of yourself." Yesterday he wanted me to come over for dinner. He knew B was working late and he knows I don't like to cook for myself. He said he wanted me to have a good meal. (Not the waffles I have had for the past 2 nights for dinner...what's wrong with waffles?!?!) Anyway, he made a big dinner with chicken, corn, potatoes, salad, rolls, etc. It was lovely. When I went to help do the dishes, he just told me he would take care of it and to go rest. So cute!

Try ginger hard candies. They have been my savior. I buy them at Whole Foods, I don't know where else they sell them. They are amazing. Oh, and Tums - a-okay for a pregnant lady. Also a lifesaver. And just remember, the morning sickness will pass.

What a sweet thing for your day to do. All I can say about morning sickness is to keep trying all the suggestions. I never found anything that was just fabulous, but all the things mentioned helped a little and trying not to let myself get hungry which was hard to do. Hang on... it passes

That is a wonderful story. I have heard that ginger works as well and my personal favorite of any morning/motion sickness is relief bands. You can get them at Walgreens for $9.95 and they work miracles. They use pressure points on your wrists to ease any nausea. Last summer when I had a reaction to the Hcg and I had complete sickness for days, it was the only relief.

I clung to anything salty. Also you might want to beef up your B12 if you have not already. That seemed to help me a little. Your dad is cute - it sounds like he is coming around to everything and just wants you to be healthy and happy. My dad is similarly unexpressive and sweet. L

That's really sweet. My Dad has softened up a lot since I've shared our news with them as well... asking if I'm okay, worrying if I call to talk to Mom that something is wrong, down to making sure we'll have everything we need and more for the baby when he arrives.
